The main purpose of this story is to try to explain to myself and to others, the statement that I often make that while I don't condone or approve of those who attack and sometimes kill those who have bullied them, that I understand and empathize with them.
Being bullied had a profound effect on my life. Instead of going to high school I quit school in the ninth grade and joined the navy.
I never fit in with a crowd, perhaps because when I was younger we moved around so much, by the time I was twelve we had lived in every state west of Kansas. Perhaps the reason was that I was smarter than most of the others. Kids as a rule don't like some who are smarter than they are.
Yet another reason may have been what I call victim presentation. I was a victim of sexual abuse by a trusted family member for several years. I believe the other kids may have sensed that I was already a victim and thus an easy target.
